After losing my creative mail mojo for a while, (yeah...it's been a while hasn't it?), this month's Lollipop box club kit has really gotten me back into the mood! Look at the colours! The mints, teals, corals and reds! Lush, lush, lush!!! What is even more exciting is that I was asked to guest design for this month! *happy dancing is going down right here*
I decided to do a flipbook. Did I decide to do a simple flipbook? Eh...no... Although not very difficult, it seemed to be adamant to defeat me! Everything the could go wrong went wrong! I cleverly did a sample of what I was going to create with plain paper. It took me a while to figure out the measurements and eventually it worked... Did it work when it came to the real thing?
Big fat NOPE!!!!
Anyway, I winged it in the end. But it just goes to show that even if you try to follow measurements, things still can not go to plan. So, I'll tell you the measurements of my end result, (rather than the useless ones I tried to follow - I chucked my notebook with my measurements on across the room), but I'll also tell you how I managed to save it when I essentially made a mess of things...

+ Paper trimmer and score board (I have We R Memory keepers combine score board and paper trimmer, it's so handy! I really recommend it!)

+ Crop-a-dile (for punching the holes and inserting eyelets, but a normal hole punch will do if you don't want to insert eyelets.)
+ Circle punch
+ Big ol' heart punch (it's about 2 inches).
+ Ribbon and twine
+ Dylusions paints and shimmer sprays
+ Tag and envelope (from the kit)

+ Base - 5 3/4 inches
(basically the size of the papers already in the kit, no cutting required! Woot woot!!!)
- Score @ 2 1/8 inches & 5 1/2 inches
+ Accordion flaps - 3 1/4 inches x 6 3/4 inches
- Score at 1 inch
+ Envelope 3 x 4 inches
What I did!!
To start I had a good ol' time splattering the white sides of the patterned paper with paint using a fan brush. Oh my days, did I have fun! :D I used colours that matched the papers. I dried the paint by both heat tool and air dry. I would recommend acrylic paints as watercolours would buckle the paper, although go for it if you don't mind that!
Whilst I waited for the paint to dry, and being as I already had the paints out, I started on the tag and envelope I used for the mail tag, (a penpal game of sorts that you add to a letter where you ask your pallie a load of random questions that don't necessarily fit into the letter. It doesn't have to be on a tag but in this case I did). I used the stencil, but as I wanted to only use the triangles I wrapped the 'happy' part with micropore tape, (any tape will do). I used the same red paint as before but this time I used Dylusions shimmer sprays in calypso teal. I LOVE the effect of these on the kraft envelope!
To create the base I scored a sheet of paper from the kit at 2 1/8 inches and 5 1/2 (on the long side). This is so one side is longer than the other and it gives that wallet style look.
I then cut the accordion flaps to size, (and after getting the size wrong, I cut them again to fit...). I scored inch and then folded the rest in half, (NOT including the scored inch!).
Then I stuck the flaps down using the scored side, making sure to stick them in with the flap opening outward, (bends on the inside). I added some pockets to two of the flaps.

Next, I made the envelope using the WRMK envelope punch board. I used a 6X6 inch sized bit of paper. However, you want to use the papers from the kit the largest you could make would be a 3x3 inch envelope. I stuck the envelope on the base with a tape runner.
I then punch holes into the flaps to create the closure, almost like a coin envelope effect. I punched circles with a circle punch out of the patterned paper and punched holes into the middle of them so they could be attached the eyelets. I then inserted to the eyelets into the holes and attached them to the flaps.
I tied the twine around the circle to complete the closure of the flaps.
I then punched another hole into the top of the base, inserted an eyelet for the closure of the flipbook - with the idea of using the ribbon to tie it all together.
Then I decorated it!!
I decided that I didn't want to go crazy with the decorations as I want the paper and the splatters to have the attention, but I used the stickers from the kit.
